Traffic stops for South Coast Santa

A WOMAN’S DEEP-FELT love for children and seeing them smile at Christmas has driven her to don a white beard and flaming red suit as Santa Claus – not coming from the North Pole, but traversing the streets on the South Coast.

At the Worthing/Rendezvous junction in Christ Church on nights leading up to Christmas, Gina De Souze, dressed in her Santa suit, could be seen bringing cheer to the less fortunate, taking along the children of relatives and friends who are constantly in her house to demonstrate the true spirit of Christmas.

“I was sitting down at my desk at home one Christmas season and I was hearing the kids in the living room talking. Everybody wanted an iPad and an iPhone and all the big gifts that I realised that some people did not have. So I said, ‘Let’s find a way to do something to show these children that they have everything and there are some children who have nothing’,” she said.
