Costly setback

THE NEW YEAR will start on a sour note for some retailers who say they have lost thousands of dollars in potential sales.

The problem involved getting their goods cleared from the Customs warehouse in Seawell, Christ Church. The frustrated men and women told the media they had been trying to do so for about a week and yesterday was the last day on which they would be able to capitalise.

“Our stuff has been stuck at the airport since last Friday. They are saying the vehicle which brings the goods down get in an accident but I don’t understand why they can’t get another. Now I hear the cashiers leaving early,” said store owner Keann Walters.

The retailers, some of whom were at the warehouse since 8 a.m, said they were willing to hire a truck to have their stock moved but were not getting anywhere.
