Dorothy’s 100 tears of joy

YESTERDAY was a very special one for Dorothy Augusta Casey and she welcomed it with tears of joy.

Casey, described as a people’s person and usually one who was not lost for words, could not hold back the tears during a visit by Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, friends and family on her 100th birthday.

At the Bromswood Retirement Home in Two Mile Hill, St Michael, “Doris” or “Aunt Do”, a mother of two, was brought to tears as her daughter Velda and many of her 12 grandchildren gave touching tributes on how she impacted their lives.

Velda, 78, who migrated to England in the 1960s, said she was grateful to her mother for looking after her children.
