Letter to BWA
EIGHT MONTHS of personal, financial and other losses due to chronic water outages across Barbados have been outlined in a letter delivered yesterday to Minister of Agriculture and Water Resource Management Dr David Estwick and other key players.
Staying true to a promise made at a meeting with residents in St Peter last week, Opposition Leader Mia Mottley, her parliamentary colleagues Cynthia Forde, Trevor Prescod and Edmund Hinkson, candidate for St Peter, Colin Jordan, and a small contingent of affected residents, delivered a letter to acting general manager of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA), Dr John Mwansa, at the BWA’s Pine, St Michael offices just before 11 a.m. yesterday.
Mottley said it was a copy of a letter delivered to Estwick and the permanent secretary in his ministry earlier in the morning. She said they requested a meeting, outlined some of the experiences of affected customers and offered some short, medium and long-term solutions to the problem.
She did not divulge the contents of the letter, but said she felt it was important for Estwick and the other officials to hear directly from the affected householders and business people about the situation, which has become dire over time.
