Massy, BWU still talking
THE MANAGEMENT of Massy and the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) are still locked in negotiations.
Yesterday’s marathon session resumed just after 2 p.m. and former general secretary of the BWU, Sir Roy Trotman, told members of the Press that the discussions will continue on Monday afternoon.
Sir Roy had just emerged from a meeting with shop stewards, which lasted for about 40 minutes. As was the case on Wednesday when the talks resumed following a break in December, the joint meeting was suspended at an interval to allow the two parties to hold separate discussions.
A source close to the BWU hinted that yesterday’s meeting would be prolonged because the parties wanted to iron out as many issues before the union meets with staff across the Massy brand tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the union. (YB)
