Muslims’ plea for urgent solution
“WE NEED A DEFINITIVE SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE.”
This is the call from some Muslim women on the controversial issue of the wearing of religious headwear for identification photographs. The matter, they said, had been going on for 20 years.
“Individuals have even gone to their constituency representatives and appealed to help us and let us get this thing resolved,” said Ferozah Kothdiwala, one of the women who spoke to the SUNDAY SUN.
She said they have ventilated their concerns to both political parties, especially around election time when politicians visit the mosques.
They had raised the issue with the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and Government minister Esther Byer, she said.
