Domestic circumstances drove Nadine Benn-Greaves into food technology.
Never did she think the home economics classes she had taken at secondary school would one day become the basis for her career.
Today at 35, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees under her belt, she has the enviable distinction of being the only Barbadian food scientist certified by the International Commission of Certified Scientists.
As a student at the Alleyne School in St Andrew and later at Queen’s College, her ambition was to become a doctor. But at the back of her mind there was always this lingering piece of advice: “I was always told as a child you must always have backup plans so that if you don’t get your heart’s desire as your first choice, you always have a second choice which you will still love.”
