Trident Run for Dipper
THE BROKEN TRIDENT is resting at the historic St George Parish Church.
It arrived there yesterday evening after a 13.76-kilometre run starting at the foot of a greater than life-sized statue of the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow in Independence Square.
Yesterday’s Broken Trident Run, held on the birthday of the National Hero, brought together athletes from every sporting discipline in Barbados – from its top two female surfers to its paralympians.
Chairman of the coordinating committee of the 50th Anniversary of Independence Celebrations, Senator Maxine McClean, told locals and the few visitors in the square that the relay run allowed officials the opportunity to “highlight . . . several areas of importance in the personal, professional and political life of our first Prime Minister”.
