Female quota full
GO ARMY. That’s exactly what Barbadian women are thinking these days.
More females are looking to join the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) ranks, and have been applying heavily, says Deputy Chief of Staff Commander Errington Shurland.
Speaking to the SATURDAY SUN following the closing ceremony of courses on basic navigation, boarding and search and bridge management, held at the Coast Guard Headquarters, on Spring Garden Highway yesterday, Shurland said they had a quota of ten per cent females they were trying to maintain in general.
“We have had our challenges in getting qualified and eligible applicants into the Defence Force, [but] the significant portion of applications over the last three years or so have been female,” he said.
