Two battling hard in cement price war

A CEMENT price war is on.

Arawak Cement Company and the new kid on the block, Rock Hard Cement, are fighting hard against each other.

It has been only two months since Rock Hard made a big entry on the local market and already the game has changed.

Arawak, which was the lone supplier of cement in Barbados for 31 years, has dropped its local retail price, the highest in the Eastern Caribbean, three times from $28 to $20.57 to match Rock Hard’s.

For the past three weeks, the St Lucy-based company has also been conducting weekend promotions at hardware stores around the country.

Rock Hard, which is located on Spring Garden, is now offering a ten per cent discount on its product until February 29.
