PRAYERS and belief can work miracles.
With Jesus inscribed in his racket, of devout christian Kerry “TC” Francis had his prayers answered Sunday night with a thrilling upset victory over Julian “Michael Jackson” White to give St Lucy its first ever National Sports Council’s Inter-Parish “A” class road tennis title.
Francis, 37, who hails from Broomfield, St Lucy, sent shockwaves through the Wildey Gymnasium with a come-from-behind 10-21, 21-17, 21-18 victory over White, who was representing St John in the championship final on the newly installed concrete court on the floor of the indoor facility.
After Francis’ maiden victory over White, St Lucy’s adopted son Curtis Jones had the routine task of defeating St John’s veteran player Adrian “Dan” Skeete and he did so in style, 21-18, 21-9 to earn the lucrative first prize of $10 500 and cellphones, compliments Digicel.
