Airport workers plan protest

WORKERS AT THE Grantley Adams International Airport are standing by for a two-hour protest on Friday.

The top brass of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), who met with the workers for just over an hour this afternoon, would neither confirm nor deny the protest action but the workers have stated that there is a planned protest between noon and 2 p.m. on Friday.

All NUPW general secretary Roslyn Smith would say is that the union will take whatever action is necessary if airport management does not respond favorably to a letter by tomorrow.

The workers are upset after  reportedly being told they will not be paid the remaining 3.5 per cent increase owed from the 7.5 per cent agreed to between 2009 and 2010. (YB)
