RECORDS went by the board as Suleman ”Sol” Esuf and the experienced Sean Maloney kept the Barbados flag flying in the inaugural Radical International meet and the start of the three-round Winter Cup  at Bushy Park Barbados last weekend.

In his first season of circuit racing, Esuf stunned his more seasoned counterparts as drivers from the United Kingdom, United States, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago joined the Barbadian regulars by taking pole position with a new qualifying record of  58.965 seconds.

He shaved 1/100th  off the previous best  set by defending local Radicals SR3 champion Sean Maloney.

Another driver catching the eye was Guyana’s 19-year old racing sensation Calvin Ming, the son of former Guyana champion driver of the 1970s, Stanley Ming. He posted a second new qualifying record in as many days with 58.869 seconds clocking, ahead of Sean, Stuart and Mark Maloney, with Esuf and Caudwell on row three.
