400 set for Classic action

MORE THAN 400 athletes from 18 clubs, schools and junior programmes will be competing in today’s annual Joseph Payne Memorial Classic at the National Stadium.

Organisers revealed yesterday that a total of 254 men and 171 women had already been entered to contest the numerous track and field events on the day’s programme which starts at 3 p.m.

In addition, another 50 entries from the Jump Start Programme, which had already signed up 26 athletes, were also being considered.

All the major clubs will be in action, with Rising Stars leading the way with 84 entries, followed by 48 from Elite Distance, 37 from BC Trac and 30 from Pacers and 29 from the High Performance Programme.
