WEEKENDS in Speightstown have never been more special.

That is, until the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA) came up with the novel idea of Speightstown Sizzlin’. Since the first staging last December, Saturdays have become one of the most anticipated days of the week for many northerners and it is expected to continue this way at least once every month going forward.

Last Saturday was no different as scores packed the Speightstown Esplanade and even more lined the streets enjoying the sights, atmosphere and the heavenly fragrance of delicious local delicacies wafting through the air.

The setting was rustic as locals and tourists mixed, mingled and danced to the pulsating rhythms of the Casa Blanca Steel Orchestra, all the while patronising craft stalls, engaging in games of dominoes or having shots of some of Barbados’ finest spirits.
