Lifeline for at-risk mums
A further lifeline has been offered to a dozen at-risk teenage mothers.
After successfully completing the Intervention Support Programme for Adolescent Mothers organised by the Lions Club of Barbados South and the Barbados Defence Force, the mums are being offered the opportunity to pursue their education at some of the island’s top institutions.
The commitment was given recently by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Senator Harry Husbands, who promised to use his influence to secure spots for them in the skills training programme at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic or the Barbados Community College.
