HOURS AFTER NATION ONLINE reported a burst main at the junction of Jessamy Lane and Ruby, St Philip main road, a crew from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) was on the scene.

They repaired the affected section of the rusted cast iron water main, which had resulted in thousands of gallons of water flowing along the road.

At the time, residents said they had called the Authority to report the burst main, but had received no response.

The island is reporting below normal levels of rainfall and there have been periodic outages across the island.

However, residents in the northern and eastern parishes have been hardest hit, reporting prolonged outages which have affected everyday living and the livelihood of farmers.

The BWA is undertaking a mains replacement project on the island’s hundred-year-old infrastructure. (JS)
