Payback time

IT DIDN’T TAKE long for Cavs and Warriors to get payback.

Vengeance proved sweet for Hilton Barbados Warriors and Station Hill Cavaliers on Thursday night, as they upended defending champs Orange 3 Pinelands and Pan American International Insurance Warrens respectively to advance to the Co-operators General Insurance Premier League basketball knockout final.

Playing in a rematch of last season’s league semi-finals at the Wildey Gym, the two overturned the results of those first-round series, with Warriors getting the better of rivals Pinelands 69-59 before Cavs held on for a scrappy 52-45 win over the reigning league kings.

Yet the night was probably that much more satisfying for a Warriors side that not only lost the 2015 league semis to the Pine, but also dropped the previous two knockout title games against the same opponents.
