Goodland fire battle

FIVE PEOPLE ARE homeless after fire destroyed two houses and damaged one other in Goodland, St Michael.

But the combined efforts of family members, workers from the nearby Westbury Cemetery and good Samaritans prevented the tragedy from creating greater havoc.

Barbados Fire Service (BFS) personnel on the scene said the blaze erupted at the home of Verda Babb around 8 a.m. yesterday.

Babb was rushed to safety by her four sons, who attempted to salvage what they could from the house with the help of neighbours, evan as flames quickly engulfed the wooden structure.
