Plumber: US toilets not faulty

BANNING THE SALE of United States-made water toilets on the island is not the answer, but rather the issue is the lack of regular maintenance.

This is according to Ambrose Carter, veteran plumber and owner of Plumb Rite Plumbing Systems Inc., whose comments come on the heels of senior engineer of Stantec, Andrew Hutchinson, who said last week that American-made toilets wasted gallons of water because of the unseen overflow they carried. 

“We cannot condemn the toilet in and of itself. There is nothing wrong with what we are doing right now. It’s just a matter of regular maintenance,” Carter told the DAILY NATION.

“I personally think that we don’t need to ban toilets or sanitary ware or plumbing equipment, but rather . . . every home or building should have a compulsory maintenance plan . . . . (RA)
