BRIDGETOWN – Guyana Jaguars, replying to Barbados Pride’s first innings total of 274, were 173 for seven off 53.3 overs at tea on the second day of their seventh round regional Professional Cricket League first-class match at Kensington Oval here Saturday.
Off-spinner Roston Chase struck a crucial blow just before the interval when he had Raymon Reifer brilliantly caught one-handed by Jonathan Carter at slip for 36, leaving Veerasammy Permaul not out on 22.
Resuming from 81 for three at lunch, the Jaguars quickly lost Vishaul Singh for three to fast bowler Miguel Cummins as he was caught behind and captain Leon Johnson, who was caught by Kyle Corbin in the gully off seamer Kevin Stoute for 40.
But from 86-5, wicket-keeper Anthony Bramble and Reifer added 47 runs for the sixth wicket before the former was superbly caught at silly mid-off for 26 by substitute Omar Phillips from the bowling of leg-spinner Hayden Walsh.
Both Chase and Cummins have taken two wickets each for 23 and 38 runs respectively. (EZS)
