Unbeaten Wales face Paradise test

WEYMOUTH WALES will take on DirecTV Paradise in what should be a close match when the Digicel Premier League continues today at the Wildey football centre.

The two meet at 6 p.m. in what is likely to be the match of the night. Just one point separates them, with Wales in third position on 14 points and Paradise fourth on 13.

Both teams won their previous matches, but Paradise’s youthful outfit seem to have the edge over Wales. Armando “Sugar” Lashley and Elijah Downey have been terrorising opposing defences this season and it will be hard to stop them from scoring.

Wales, unlike Paradise, are unbeaten and they will be looking to ensure that remains the same. The only two times they haven’t recorded full points were when they drew with heavyweights the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) and Rendezvous.

In the evening’s first match, at 4 p.m., defending champions BDFSP will face Notre Dame. The recruits are second in the standings, just behind UWI Blackbirds on goal difference, and they will certainly be looking for victory against opponents who have endured a nightmare start to the season, with just one win, against minnows Belfield.

At 8 p.m. Rendezvous will oppose bottom of the table Pinelands. Pinelands are yet to win a match and look incapable of even holding their opponents to a draw (PG)
