TALKBACK: Readers touched by couple’s story

THERE WAS AN OUTPOURING of support last week from online readers for Troy and Kenisha Brathwaite, one of the first couples to win the NATION’s Forever I Do competition.

Kenisha experienced two difficult pregnancies and last January, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She is now legally blind and unable to work but through it all, Troy has stayed by her side.

The young couple’s commitment to each other warmed the hearts of many. Some hailed them as an inspiration while others offered up prayers. Here are some of their comments.

Colleen Jones: Thank you for sharing your story. The fact that you are not complaining speaks volumes. God will make a way for you to continue to look after each other and the kids. If there is any way to help, I would be honoured to do so. Continue to love each other. God bless.

Janelle Atwell: Troy, Kenisha, what a beautiful, heart-warming story of courage, perseverance and through-thick-and-thin love in our mash-up-and-buy-back, hurry-up world, a world where people don’t understand or believe in true love anymore, a world where relationships crumble, fizzle or fade at the slightest breeze, much less such an uphill battle. Wow.

Asha Skeete: I wish your family all the very best. Hang in there and be strong for each other. Real, true, unselfish love really does conquer all. God will guide you both through.

Casan Taylor: My goodness, this story really touched me. God bless you, Troy. Some others would have walked away. You are a man of your word. You have stuck to your vows and God will reward you. I pray for healing for Kenisha.  I pray that God will strengthen you, grant you peace and patience, and provide miraculously for you and your family. Continue to be faithful and watch what God will do.

Tamara Dangleben: Beautiful story. Love conquers everything. Give God praise.  He will get your family through this.

Verona Brome: Beautiful, inspiring and encouraging.

Tammie Grimes: Such a beautiful couple, your story touched my heart. I pray for healing and strength for you both.

Veronica Straker: I pray that God will give you both strength as you go through all you are being faced with. Keep strong.

Marva Small: What a beautiful story of love and perseverance. Don’t give up. When it gets more than you think you can bear, God will give you the strength to keep going on.

Patty Cake: God is able. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Keep the faith. Your reward shall be so great, Troy, you will be in awe.

Tricia Squires-Newton: I sincerely hope that you have a circle of helpers and people to encourage you. Your story is one of hope and love in the good times and bad.

Kay Brat: That’s what you call unconditional love. May God continue to bless them both.
