Sonics shock Pinelands
MAYBE STACKING superpowered teams doesn’t work out after all.
Ian Alexander’s acquisition didn’t quite pay off, at least not immediately, as Urban Vybz Sonics ruined his Pine debut in Tuesday’s 71-68 shocker over Orange 3 Pinelands in the Co-operators General Insurance Basketball Premier League at the Wildey Gymnasium.
It’s just the latest big-name pickup over the last three years for an already star-studded side, who added the former Lakers forward to a high-powered group featuring national players Jeremy Gill, Charles Vanderpool, Junior Moore and Ramon Simmons.
But Alexander wasn’t as good as advertised on the night, having scored just six points on two of seven shooting, while committing five turnovers.
