IT IS NOT every day that a horse that has run in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, will have one of its next starts in a race in the Caribbean.
Such is the case with War Envoy, which will represent Gay Smith’s Springheads Stable in the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup over 1 800 metres next Saturday at the Garrison Savannah.
War Envoy is due to arrive over the next couple of days and will certainly have many admirers and create interest among racing enthusiasts in Barbados.
From the inception of the Gold Cup in 1982, the Caribbean’s premier racing spectacle has always been a race dominated by heavy rollers like Sir David Seale, who reigned supreme in the first two decades.
