It may be Monday
AFTER TEN WEEKS away from the classroom, Minister of Education Ronald Jones is hopeful Monday could be the day when a 15-year-old former student of the Springer Memorial Secondary School could return to school.
Speaking to the SATURDAY SUN before heading up to the House of Assembly yesterday, Jones refused to respond to rumours about the possible fate of the child, who is at the centre of a disciplinary dispute stemming from her refusal to pick up a piece of refuse when asked to do so by her year head, and then the principal.
“The matter is still under careful review by the ministry,” was all Jones would say.
Up to yesterday evening the only solid information was that the child’s mother, Elecia Weekes, was still not accepting the ministry-initiated transfer to Ellerslie Secondary.
