Water fears

SOME PLANT NURSERY OPERATORS say the ongoing drought – and now the water restrictions announced by the Barbados Water Authority – will see dry times for their businesses.

Roger Cutting, of Unity Plant Nursery, one of many displaying their products at Agrofest in Queen’s Park yesterday, told the DAILY NATION the prohibitions, which will take effect from tomorrow for two months, were “draconian” and he anticipated they would have a negative impact on sales. 

The restrictions state that people must not use water for irrigation of gardens, lawns and grounds or the filling or supplying of tanks, baths, ponds or swimming pools other than dipping tanks for cattle.
