THERE WILL BE some adjustment to the water prohibition order that goes into effect from today.

Barbados Water Authority (BWA) acting manager of engineering Charles Marville, in a brief telephone comment while in a meeting yesterday evening, said there would be exemptions for some areas of operations. The details are expected to be made public soon.

A number of businesses which would be affected by the BWA’s measure aimed at reducing water usage over the next three months, were seeking clarification yesterday on the order made last Friday given the likely negative impact on their businesses. These range from hotels and restaurants to golf courses and valet services.

Some small businesses in the power-washing business said it was virtually impossible to continue operating without using water. One operator from St Michael, who asked to remain anonymous, said his business was now using a reduced quantity of water given the new equipment employed.
