A ST JOHN father of two narrowly escaped serious injury yesterday when his vehicle plunged about 30 feet into a ravine.
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Clifton Hall hill, known for its blind corners.
Police reported that Dave Cook, of Newcastle, lost control of his Toyota van as he was driving up the hill and veered across the road, narrowly missing the guard wall and subsequently dropping over the edge.
Cook managed to walk away from the crash seemingly unharmed, although he complained of pains to the body. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for checks.
The crash triggered responses from the police, fire service, ambulance service and the St John District Emergency Organisation (DEO), of which Cook is a member.
