BARBADOS have lost to Ecuador again. This time even worse.

The ultramarine and gold’s quest for revenge fell dreadfully short after Darian King and Haydn Lewis lost yesterday’s hard-fought doubles encounter to give the hosts an unassailable 3-0 lead in the Davis Cup Group I Americas tie at the Portoviejo Tennis Club.

Playing against Emilio Gomez and Giovanni Lapentti, Barbados’ dynamic duo clawed back from an early one-set deficit only to lose 6-4, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-3 following nearly three-and-a-half hours of gruelling play.

It’s the second time in as many years that the Bajans lost to their South American counterparts, having suffered a heart-breaking 3-2 defeat at home last season.
