Belle’s take on third party

IT WILL take the collapse of one of the two major parties for a third party to have any chance of survival in the Barbadian political landscape.

This is the view of noted political scientist and recently retired dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr George Belle, who was the main speaker at the Barbados Labour Party’s St Philip North constituency meeting at St Mark’s Community Centre last night.

Belle dismissed the idea of a third party comprising businessmen running the island as something new, saying Barbados had always been run by businessmen and was still run by them.

He said change could be effected by the technological revolution and the way parties shared information.
