AMBULANCE workers in Barbados have declared they have a major health and safety emergency.
And they have given authorities an ultimatum: build the long-promised new Emergency Ambulance Service (EAS) headquarters urgently and get them out of the crumbling old Ministry of Health offices, or face the consequences.
While their main complaint is that the floor is caving in around them, even after being repaired twice before, in a detailed memo to the director of support services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), which is responsible for the EAS, the workers also highlighted:
