FOR THE SECOND TIME in the space of one week, Combermere School has been closed due to environmental issues.
Some of the students have complained of the same odour which caused the school to be closed last week, while nearby residents said there was a gas-like smell.
Last week, Principal Vere Parris said students and staff of the school had been feeling the effects of what was thought to be an odour coming from Acacia trees that had been disturbed by tractors operating near to the school.
At the time, the school was given assurances the work would not continue.
But today, students and staff were again seen congregating on the school’s cricket field just before midday as parents came to collect them. Efforts to contact the school principal so far have proven futile. (AD)
