WHILE WOMEN have much to celebrate, they must still work at breaking the glass ceiling which is proving “pretty shatterproof”.
New Zealand’s High Commissioner Jan Henderson told a group of women who gathered for morning tea to celebrate International Women’s Day yesterday at the British High Commissioner’s residence, that there were still stories to be told of discrimination and unfair practices against women in business.
Nevertheless, she said the day should be used to highlight women’s achievements and to share experiences and ideas on how to reach parity for women.
British High Commissioner Victoria Dean echoed the sentiment and noted that women were still facing challenges daily especially in developing countries where the fight for rights was very real.
