LAST YEAR’S bridesmaids could be wearing the ring at the finals of next week’s PowerAde Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships (BSSAC).

The St Michael School emphatically won the girls title in the inaugural Frank Blackman Zone at the National Stadium yesterday.

St Michael raced to 368 points, well clear of Queen’s College (254.5), who pipped Lester Vaughan (254) for second spot. The Lodge School (250.5) were fourth and Coleridge & Parry (196.5) fifth.

The Martindales Road girls started the day in triumphant fashion as Danielle Scantlebury took the Under-20 400 hurdles in 67.21 seconds, while Rhea Hoyte (44.67) impressively won the Under-17s’ 300 hurdles.
