ROCCO BOWEN has achieved what no other Barbadian has done – win a jockey championship in the United States.

“It feels really good. You get the real feeling of enjoyment two or three days after – that’s when it really soaks in,” the 27-year-old Bowen said about clinching the riders’ title at Portland Meadows in Oregon.

“The feeling was really good when I held the trophy with my family and friends. It was even better when I came through the airport and saw pictures of Rihanna and Patrick Husbands. Hopefully one day I can join them.”

Fresh from winning his first jockey title, Bowen showed what champs are made of when he clinically closed out last Saturday’s Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup Race Day by booting home MTD Racing’s Thismeanswar in the dark at the Garrison Savannah.
