A DEBT COLLECTION agent has slammed the landlord who turned off the water supply to the home he rents to a mother with three children.
Founder of the Barbados Landlords and Tenants Bureau Everton De Peiza has reacted strongly to the story reported in last week’s WEEKEND Nation about the plight of 30-year-old Kimberly Greaves, the tenant of a one-bedroom wooden house at Rollins Road, Bush Hall, and St Michael.
According to the mother of three, the water to her rented home was turned off by the landlord Joseph Rollins, though she claimed “since I was here, he never told me anything about water”.
Rollins confirmed to the WEEKEND Nation he had turned off the water because he said he was owed for rent, electricity and water supplied to the home. The landlord said further, he had no problem paying for tenants’ water when the bill was around $33, but claimed it had increased to $100 since Greaves became a tenant.
