AS PART of the Nation Publishing Company’s 50th anniversary of Independence celebrations, the WEEKEND NATION team is visiting communities across the country that reflect Bajan life. We will talk to people and explore places over the next few editions.

AT MANY GIVEN moments, Fabian Layne can be seen riding people through Oistins, Christ Church, on his specially modified brightly coloured tricycle.

He ferries tourists and locals for a living and loves his job. This year, Layne decided to also show his love of country.

“I had this done from January in celebration of Barbados 50th anniversary,” he said, showing his trike which is painted in the national colours of ultramarine, gold and black. (CA)

Layne said a lot of people liked to use his services as they found it a relaxing alternative to a vehicle. (Picture by Nigel Browne)
