Shane Brathwaite on to semis

SHANE BRATHWAITE is through to tomorrow’s semi-finals of the men’s 60 metre hurdles at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon.

Running in the fourth and final heat, Brathwaite finished third overall in 7.68 seconds behind pre-race favourite Pascal Martinot-Lagarde of France (7.48) and American Spencer Adams (7.68).

Mikel Thomas of Trinidad and Tobago also qualified with 7.72 seconds in the same heat.

Jamaica’s Omar McLeod was third overall with 7.58 seconds and Eddie Lovett of the USVI fourth with a season’s best 7.63.

The semi-final will run off at 3:40 p.m. Sunday.

Earlier in the day, sprinter Ashley Marshall did not advance in the women’s 60 metre dash. She finished 27th overall 7.38 seconds. (SAT)
