POLICE APPEAR TO have made a breakthrough in a series of robberies that occurred in the Southern Division this year.

Public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch last night confirmed that Jabari Trotman, 22, of Parish Land, Christ Church, has been arrested and charged for five counts of robbery that occurred between January and mid-March.

Perpetrators have been busy in the Pilgrim Road, Thyme Bottom, Fairy Valley, Ealing Park and surrounding areas in Christ Church, and in at least one case a house was hit twice in the space of about five weeks.

Welch reminded home-owners about the need to be vigilant, and to communicate with family members and neighbours when their homes were being left unattended for long period.

He is also urging caretakers who look after houses for people who live overseas to visit the properties more often so that they would not appear to be unoccupied. (YB)
