Mascoll - Patriot to the bone

AS PART of the Nation Publishing Company’s 50th anniversary of Independence celebrations, the WEEKEND NATION team is visiting communities across the country that reflects Bajan life. We will talk to people and explore places over the next few editions.

COLIN MASCOLL LOVES his home country, and spending more than four decades living elsewhere has not dulled that love one bit.

In fact, the time away has made Mascoll’s heart grow fonder to the point where he is taking an active part in Barbados’ governance as the projects co-ordinator of the Christ Church South Constituency Council.

“I was born in St John but was living in England for 43 years, coming back ten years ago. I am a patriot; I love anything to do with Barbados. My mum, Olga Marshall, used to work with Errol Barrow and nominated David Thompson for St John, while my sister, Undine Mascoll, nominated Mara when David died,” he said.

Mascoll has spread his love of country even to the vehicle he drives. Every seat has a nationalistic cover so no one would be confused where his heart lies. He gave his views on what he loved the most and the least about Barbados.  (CA)
