BARBADOS’ tradition of hurdles excellence at the regional level continued yesterday evening when they picked up three medals in the distance hurdles on the second day of the Flow CARIFTA Games at the Grenada Athletics Stadium in St George’s.

Rasheeme Griffith and Nathan Fergusson delivered a one-two punch in the Under-18 Boys’ 400-metre hurdles while Rivaldo Leacock picked up a silver medal in the Under-20 Boys’ race.

Barbados ended the day third in the medals table (see box) with three gold, five silver and six bronze. Griffith, another outstanding product of the Elite Distance Programme and the Coleridge and Parry School, set a personal best of 52.22 seconds to win the gold medal.
