Oistins gospel thriller

IT IS NOT OFTEN that someone upstages the mother of Gospel in Barbados, Sister Marguerita Marshall.

But Edward Paul, and seven beautiful back-up singers of CHC Gates Of Praise, did just that when the Kentucky Fried Chicken Gospel Spectacular was held at part of the Oistins Fish Festival at the Oistins Boatyard on Sunday night.

By the time that group left the stage and Sister Marshall climaxed the show with some of her well-loved tunes, the dancing and hand-clapping crowd had forgiven the organisers for the one-hour late start to the show.

Among the involved audience was Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for the area, John Boyce, as well as Cabinet colleague and Minister of Social Care Steve Blackett.

After several low-energy presentations, Paul and his singers ignited the stage with high-octane outpourings of In Jesus’ Name and We Love Your Name.  (KB)
