FTC gives C&W the OK
THE FAIR TRADING COMMISSION (FTC) has given Cable & Wireless (C&W) a little wiggle room in landline pricing.
But in a new Price Cap Plan (PCP) 2016 that came into effect on April 1, the FTC has given C&W permission to increase its fixed line prices by up to three per cent annually between now and March 2019.
At the same time, the Government entity remained unconvinced that WhatsApp, Skype and other Over-The-Top (OTT) applications would threaten C&W’s landline competitiveness over the next three years.
The price cap system used to determine the rates Barbadians pay for the company’s regulated telecommunications services has been in place since 2005. (GE)
