THE CHEST ROLL that was first made popular on the cricket grounds of Bangladesh is set to make its way to Barbados and across the Caribbean.

Shamar Springer, one of the stars of the West Indies team’s capture of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in February when his unique chest roll dance captured the imagination of fans worldwide, has been selected as the Barbados Tridents Under-19 representative for this year’s Hero Caribbean Premier League.

Springer’s selection comes as part of a move by organisers to have an Under-19 player drafted to each of the six franchises for the tournament that runs from June 29 to August 7.

“It is a very special feeling to be part of a franchise team that will be showing worldwide. If I get a chance, I can even advance my career more,” Springer told MIDWEEK SPORT yesterday. (HG)
