Jones “distressed” by violence against teachers
MINISTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones has had his say on the recent reports of violence by students against teachers.
Jones put forward the explanation that the educational system was going through some dynamic changes where parents and students were no longer willing to accept what was accepted in the past.
The minister asserted that respect needed to be shown by all involved in order for peace to prevail.
He made this call this morning as he spoke to the media after the donation of 160 chairs from the Aaron & Christina Truss Foundation to Harrison College.
“I’m distressed really from many vantage points,” Jones said.
“We have to treat children as human beings generally across the system. We have to have children giving respect to our teachers; we have to have parents giving respect to our teachers, but we also have to have teachers giving respect to our parents and to our children,” the minister continued. (AD)
