Youth exposure to porn ‘worrying trend’
CHILDREN ARE BEING EXPOSED to pornography from an early age and it is a concern for the directors of the Pure Sex Centre.
One of its directors, Maria Carter, said a worrying trend, especially in primary schools, was young people being socialised to sex via the Internet.
“With the advent of the Internet and many young people, ten and under, having smartphones, a lot of them have seen pornographic images,” she said.
Carter, who was speaking to the media at the HIV Awareness Campaign – Pure Living Rally at the Barbados Community College (BCC) yesterday, said if the first impression of sex and sexuality was from a pornographic nature, young boys will see young women as sex objects and vice versa. (LK)
