No magic wand
THERE IS NO magic to dealing with violence against teachers in schools.
And retired Chief Education Officer Wendy Griffith-Watson is at a loss as to why recent incidents have become so public, and are making people in the teaching profession look “incompetent”.
Terming the portrayals as “embarrassing”, she said the public portrayals were not good for teaching, learning or the educational system as a whole.
She told the SATURDAY SUN the answers to all of the issues, including violence against teachers, are contained in the Education Act and Regulations, which she said is “very clear” on student and teacher relationships.
“What everybody needs to do, although I’m the first to admit that there is no magic to it,” she stated.
