Ross: Teacher should be fired
CHILD ADVOCATE Shelly Ross is calling for the firing of the teacher involved in last week’s incident at school with a 14-year-old child.
“I believe in this child’s innocence and I would like to see that teacher out of the teaching system. I don’t want her teaching another child,” Ross told the MIDWEEK NATION after the child’s mother reached out to her for support.
Ross, who has been championing the cause of other parents in similar situations, added: “When you get into this kind of fighting and going down on the ground with a child, who is hardly 80 pounds. When I look at this little child she looks like a doll. It is unimaginable. I really cannot see anybody fighting with her – she is such a tiny child. I wouldn’t even hit this child. I don’t see anything on her to hold a lash. She may be a little mouthy but we must encourage children to express themselves.”
The child advocate also called on the schools to provide more pastoral care for children. (MB)
