Name change on the cards for GIS
THE GOVERNMENT INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL (gis) could be in line for a name change.
Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite said this is part of his vision for the institution, suggesting it would help remove the stigma attached to it. Cabinet, however, has not yet discussed the recommendation.
“We want to almost start over and we can’t start over with the same name,” said Brathwaite of the GIS, a rehabilitation facility for troubled teens.
He was part of a panel discussion Tuesday night at Island Inn Hotel organised by the Optimist Club of Barbados Bridgetown on Alternative Pathways For Young People Who May Be At Risk For Criminal Activities.
